Welcome to Sea Cottage
Gambier Island, Howe Sound, BC
This year, take your vacation in Sea Cottage, steps away from the lapping waves of Howe Sound. Awake to the sound of eagles, gulls and buzzing hummingbirds. Sunbathe, swim or hike during the day. Sip wine outdoors in the twilight and watch sea birds, seals and river otters. Smell the sea breeze, and relax in Gambier Island's lush, west coast temperate rainforest. The endless view extends beyond Howe Sound and its islands to distant Vancouver Island across the Strait of Georgia. Come for two days or longer.
Sea Cottage is a restored and refurbished, electrically heated 1950s bungalow. The warm colour of the pine panelling and the artwork make the little house feel homey.
The three bedrooms are snug, the beds are comfortable, and there’s lots of hanging space and storage for your luggage. A queen and two twin beds comfortably sleep a maximum of four people. All bed linens are provided.
The living room is rustic and cozy, with a table for playing board games, overstuffed furniture, and many books. There is a CD player and a DVD player. Unfortunately, there is no WiFi, but there is WiFi at the host’s house in an emergency.
The kitchen includes an electric stove, microwave, full fridge, and utensils to make holiday snacks and meals. Starter cooking supplies are provided; you bring the rest. Sea Cottage is fully self-catered.
* Gambier has no on-island stores.
Sea Cottage is private and separate from the main house, the home of your host, who is on hand to assist you. The furnished patio is steps from the beach and is excellent for sunbathing or eating outdoor meals. An electric barbecue makes outdoor cooking easy and pleasant on a hot summer day.

Gambier Island is water accessible only, so come by BC Ferry or water taxi, anchor in front of Sea Cottage in your powerboat or sailboat, or pull out on Sea Cottage beach in your canoe or kayak. You will be met at New Brighton if you come by BC Ferries, and your luggage will be transported to the beautiful wooded Island property.
Trip Planning with BC Ferries
Coming from Vancouver? Start your adventure at Horseshoe Bay Ferry Terminal. Take transit or have a friend drop you off to save money and time.
Walk off the ferry from the lowest car deck, ahead of the cars. Keep right, immediately past the passenger shelter, take the right down the gangway to the smaller passenger-only ferry to Gambier/Keats. You are going to New Brighton where you will be met by your host.
For a day’s adventure, take the seven-minute water taxi trip and hop on the bus to explore the delights of nearby Lower Gibsons and the Sunshine Coast.
There are community events and activities to which everyone is invited. Click the button below to connect with the Gambier Island Community website.
